Abilene Tucker feels abandoned. She aboarded a train headed for Manifest, Kansas while her dad works for a railroad company for the summer. Abilene is to stay with a shadowy preacher, her dad’s old friend. Abilene is disappointed to find that Manifest is just another sleepy town.
She changes her thoughts about the town after she finds an old box of mementos. She and her new friends decide to investigate further even though they are told to, “Leave well enough alone.” After this, Abilene meets a strange, old diviner, Miss Sadie who tells Abilene stories from the past. Abilene will learn that the stories have more to do with her than she thought.
Clare Vanderpool put a lot of detail and skilled talent into this book. It has a very mysterious plot that is unique from many others. I loved “Moon Over Manifest” and recommend it to others.
